African War Axe
An African 'Sierra Leone style' tribal war axe.
The axe stands 55cms tall. It is approx 5cms wide at the point where the metal blade runs through. The upper half of the wooden shaft is decoratively carved and incised.
The blade is approx 35cm across and 4.5cms across the cutting edge.
The blade surface is decoratively engraved with detailed geometric designs.

Antique Telescope by Bywater & Co Liverpool

A Georgian 4 draw brass, leather bound telescope sighed ‘Bywater & Co Liverpool’ . Fully extended it measures 25” long and 7.5” closed with the main lens of just over 1” Baywater was known to purchased telescopes from Dolland and as this telescope has a triple lens it is more than likely a Dolland retailed by Baywater.

In very good condition and comes with a later wooden display stand.

Bywater & co worked from 20 Pool lane Liverpool from 1822 up till 1831 when the name  changed to Bywater Dawson & Co. (See, Directory of British Scientific Instrument Makers 1550-1851 by Gloria Clifton)
