An Argentinian model 1891 sword bayonet (for the M1891 Mauser rifle) with matching serial number scabbard . The bayonet has white metal grips stamped with the “RA” Argentinian property stamp.
The 40cm fullered polished steel single edge blade is in excellent condition. The ricasso is stamped on one side with "Modelo Argentino 1891" above the Argentine crest, below this is has a serial number "A5284.", the reverse has "Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co Solingen". The inscription and crest were usually ground off before sale as obsolete and specimens with the full crest and inscription are very hard to find.
The blued steel scabbard has a matching serial number stamped above the frog stud "A5284."
