City of London Police Truncheon c1840

An early Victorian city of London Police truncheon by Parker.
This is an early type and was probably issued to special constables at the Chartist riots, see page 37 of The Police Man’s Lot by the late Mervyn Mitton.
The 18 ½ inch (47cm) truncheon is painted with the white shield of the city of London and maker stamped ‘Parker 233 Holborn’ (pre-1841).
In good original condition with some paint loss as to be expected.
