This is a matching numbers model 1866 Chassepot sword bayonet & scabbard. Both bayonet and scabbard are stamped with the same matching serial number 9712 .
Blade spine is inscribed “Chat 1871” which is the Chatellerault arsenal and date1871.
Overall length 28” (71cm)
All in very good clean condition.
