During ww1 many of the long unwieldy 1870 and 1879/87 bayonets were officially shortened to produce the 1870/15 bayonet for the 6.5mm Mannlicher Carcano rifle.
This Knife Bayonet is one of the Vetterli bayonets that had it's blade shortened and quillon removed for WWI use.
This bayonet has a 24cm single edged, blued fullered blade stamped at the ricasso with maker “Torre Annunziat” It has slab wood grips with steel leaf spring release button.
Comes complete with its original brass mounted black leather scabbard.
