Circa 1875 – 1877 Nickel-plated .30 cal Remington Smoot New Model Rimfire 5 Shot Revolver.
The 7.3cm octagonal barrel with top flat marked with the maker details, ‘E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y. PAT. W.S. SMOOT OCT. 21, 1873.’
Chambered in obsolete .30 rimfire short calibre, two-piece walnut birds-head grips, five shot cylinder and integral ejector rod.
This model was a competitor to the Colt New Line revolvers.
Total production was only about 3,000.
Overall length is 16.5 cm.
Very good condition with some storage marks and scuffs.
NB As an antique obsolete calibre rim fire revolver no licence is required to own this pistol in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display.
